The Studio 6a Difference

Owned and operated by an industry professional with over 25 years’ cumulative experience as a student, choreographer, instructor, and performer.

Culturally diverse environment that welcomes students of all ages and abilities.

Class curriculum features age-appropriate music, tasteful movement, and family-friendly ideals.

Traditional leotard and tights dress code creates a respectful environment conducive to learning and free of unnecessary distractions.

Main studio features Harlequin “Cascade” Marley vinyl surface and basket-weave sprung sub-floor, ideal for reducing the risk of injury and enhancing performance experience.

A creative movement class designed to introduce the 3-4 year old dancer to the sound of music, the structure of dance class, and basic dance vocabulary.

Pre Ballet/Jazz Combo

As an introduction to ballet and jazz, this class presents core vocabulary and basic rhythms to 4-5 year old dancers. Emphasis is placed on proper alignment, foot placement, finding the beat and discovering balance.

Ballet Level 1/2

Beginner technique structured for the 6-9 year old dancer with particular focus on expanding ballet vocabulary, enhancing the understanding of movement intent, and development of positions and movements into traveling phrases.

Intermediate technique for the 10-13 year old dancer focused on mastering extended ballet vocabulary, arm placement and body positions, and fine tuning balance and strength as students enter preparatory pointe instruction.

Advanced technique for the 14-17 year old dancer presented to unify technical knowledge and performance grace. Emphasis is placed on stamina as students are challenged with extensive barre and center exercises.

Intermediate technique for the 10-13 year old dancer. Emphasis in this level is placed on traveling movement combinations including turns, jumps and leaps.

Beginner technique designed to introduce the 6-9 year old dancer to the fundamentals of modern dance. This uniquely creative class will challenge beginners to discover the voice of dance through organic movement.

Liturgical/Praise

Liturgical dance is a type of dance movement performed as an expression of worship. This class pairs contemporary dance technique with sign language to provide a unique worship experience for the 10+ year old dancer.

Dance/Drill Team Prep

This 6-week technique class is offered to prepare the dance/drill team hopeful for audition season. Class goals are flexibility, stamina, showmanship and mastering choreography.

About:    arrica


Originally from Sugar Land, Texas, Arrica’s early dance training began in a small church sanctuary. She continued dancing under the instruction of Caruthers Creative Centre Dance Studio (Kansas City, MO) and Banbury School of Dance (Houston, TX), and later earned competitive and choreographic honors with the Hightower High School Hi-Lites Dance Team where she gained numerous solo finalist awards and titles including Senior Miss Austin Dance Classic, Miss Ft. Bend Dance Classic and Miss Alamo Dance Classic.

Arrica received her bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University (SFASU) with dual focus in Dance and English. As a member of the SFASU Repertory Dance Company (RDC), she performed in formal and informal presentations including RDC’s annual spring concerts, and performances at the American College Dance Festival and Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Convention.

Arrica enjoyed two seasons performing with Dance Unending Christian Performance Company (2009-2011), three seasons as an instructor at Studio Dance Centre (2010-2013), two seasons with Muscle Memory Dance Theatre (2013-2014), and four seasons as a cast member of the Prestonwood Baptist Church Gift of Christmas (2013-2016). Arrica is excited to be currently choreographing for the Prestonwood Baptist Church Children’s Choir 2017 Spring Musical!
